The Don Kampe Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor awarded by the Inter-Company Marketing Group. The award was established in 2001 to recognize members who have made significant, ongoing contributions of time and resources for the benefit of ICMG. The award was named in honor of Don Kampe, who served on our first board of directors, was president for two terms, and continued to be active in board and committee work for 24 years.
Allen's entry into the insurance industry in 1968 marked the beginning of a dedicated and innovative journey for an individual who has made indelible contributions to the field. Founding three reputable companies showcases a deep commitment to providing invaluable insurance products and benefits to the public. His belief in nurturing talented individuals within his ventures, enabling them to excel and eventually take ownership, reflects exceptional leadership and mentorship qualities.
Since joining ICMG in 1993, Allen has been a constant and enthusiastic advocate for the organization, consistently encouraging others to participate. In addition to attending, his companies were both sponsors and exhibitors. As an ICMG Ambassador, he was often found welcoming new attendees to each year’s conference.
Beyond ICMG, Allen's 50+ years in the industry has seen active involvement in numerous conferences and organizations. He served on multiple boards, including the Mass Market Insurance Institute, PIMA, Voluntary Benefits Association, and NAILBA's charitable foundation. His induction into the Workplace Marketing Association's Hall of Fame and a founding role in the California Association of Health Underwriters demonstrate his influential presence and visionary contributions.
A story shared by his wife, Gail, portrays his diverse influence. Initially invited as the first non-academic, non-political judge for the California Academic Decathlon, he later served on their Board of Directors for a decade and helped guide them from struggle to success.
